Bergisons Making Of

UFCD - Up Front Control Display

Working time approx. 25 hrs.

In the F-18E, the UFCD is the primary interface for viarious navigation and communication settings like the selection of radio frequencies, navaids and autopilot modes.

I built the UFCD bezel with all its buttons, potentiometers and encoders around a Faytech 7" touchscreen monitor.

UPDATE August 2021 - NEW TOUCHSCREEN

My Faytech touchscreen described in this build suddenly quit working. I sent it in for repair but learned from Faytech support that they were unable to even assess the fault due to the screen being already 11 years old (they didn't have the proper power cable available), and advised me to buy a new product. As this screen is currently sold for over 200 €, I started looking for alternatives.

Long story short, I found a touchscreen from ELECROW which has exactly the same screen dimensions and only costs 80 € (at amazon). The screen fitted perfectly under my UFCD bezel and doesn't even need a software to work (like the old Faytech monitor did). I can only recommend this product if you are looking for an UFCD touchscreen for your build!
